Inland Marine Insurance is a type of property insurance for property in transit over land and specialized types of property. Inland Marine Insurance can cover a wide variety of mobile property (including property related to construction, fine art and jewelry), instrumentalities of transportation and communication, as well as legal liability for bailees, such a Dry Cleaners.
Many inland marine insurance policies provide coverage regardless of the location of the covered property; these are sometimes called “floater” policies.
Some examples of property that can be insured under an Inland Marine Insurance Policy are:
- Computer Systems
- Artisan Contractors tools and equipment
- Fine Art
- Photographers Camera Equipment
- Musical Instruments
- Motor Truck Cargo
- Mobile Medical Equipment
- Vending Machines
While many businesses find that they have a need for an inland marine insurance policy, it does not negate the potential need for other insurance such as business liability insurance policy and business property coverage, or workers compensation insurance.
