It is California’s Medical Injury Compensation Reform Act, which caps noneconomic damages in medical malpractice cases. Assembly Bill 35, effective in 2023, replaced the old $250,000 cap with amounts that rise each year, reaching $750,000 for injury and $1 million for wrongful death by 2033. As of 2026 the caps are $470,000 for injury and $650,000 for wrongful death. Because the figures change annually, confirm the current amounts. We do not provide legal advice.
